Following the extensive flooding that affected the north of the county during Storm Claudia in November 2025, Monmouthshire County Council is preparing a ‘Section 19 Flood Report’ in line with the requirements of the Flood and Water Management Act 2010. The report will concentrate on the River Monnow catchment, where the threshold for producing such a report, flooding of twenty or more properties, has been met.
In accordance with the requirements of the above Act, the report will investigate:
(a) which risk management authorities have relevant flood risk management functions, and (b) whether each of those risk management authorities has exercised, or is proposing to exercise, those functions in response to the flood.
A large amount of work has already been undertaken during and following the flood event to investigate the impacts and gather accounts from affected residents and businesses across the catchment, including Skenfrith, Rockfield, and Monmouth areas. To ensure we capture as much information as possible to inform the Section 19 report, we would like to give residents and businesses an additional opportunity to share their experiences and impacts of Storm Claudia through this engagement exercise
The information collected will only be used to inform the Section 19 report and that that we will not be sharing any personal details or information relating to individual properties with others.
