How is this project being funded?
The project is being funded by the Welsh Government’s A465 Heads of the Valley Road Legacy Funding
Will all suggestions be implemented?
Monmouthshire County Council only has a limited budget from the secured funding with which to implement initial improvements to the site.
What can’t be done now will be put in to a long term vision for the site which will help us to secure other sources of funding in the future.
Can this funding be used for other projects outside of the ironworks site?
The funding awarded to Monmouthshire County Council is for very specific outputs agreed with the Welsh Government relating to just the ironworks site and specific access routes and structures nearby.
When will the works take place?
Initial improvement works will need take place before 31st March 2027 to satisfy the grant funding conditions.
Is this the same project as the works happening on the monument structure?
Works on the monument structure have been taking place over the last few years and due to carry on over the next couple of years in a separate project funded by National Grid and Cadw, which aims to secure the most at risk features of the ironworks monument. These two projects complement and benefit one another.
